HC Deb 29 January 1953 vol 510 cc1180-1
36. Mr. G. Jeger

asked the President of the Board of Trade to what extent men's paper collars are being exported; and what are the total exports expected for the current year.

Mr. Mackeson

No statistics of exports are available, but I understand that paper collars are exported on a small scale, mainly to Commonwealth countries. The manufacturers expect to increase exports this year.

Mr. Jeger

Would the lion. Gentleman say whether that expectation has been stimulated by his own strip-tease exhibition?

Mr. Mackeson

I can assure the hon. Gentleman that it was an accident.

Sir H. Williams

Can my hon. Friend say which use most imported raw material—paper or linen collars?

Mr. Mackeson

I have no idea.
