HC Deb 29 January 1953 vol 510 c1176
22. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Education what arrangements have been made this year with the National Camps Corporation, Ltd., in respect of children's camps; what financial economies have been imposed: and, in particular, whether Kennylands in Essex will be available.

Miss Horsbrugh

Arrangements for the use of the National Camps Corporation's camps are made between the Corporation and individual local education authorities. I have not asked for economies in the use of these camps. Proposals by the Essex local education authority for the continued use of the Kennylands Camp are under consideration.

Mr. Sorensen

Does this mean that there are fewer facilities and that a fewer number of children are likely to go to camps this year than last year?

Miss Horsbrugh

I have not asked for any economy here. It is entirely for the local authorities to decide.
