9. Dr. Broughton

asked the Minister of Health the number of persons employed on the work of the National Health Central Register at Southport on 1st November, 1951, and 1952, respectively.

Miss Hornsby-Smith

At 1st November, 1952, 266 persons were employed on maintaining this register at Southport. A comparison with November, 1951, is not possible because at that time the register was an adjunct of national registration.

Dr. Broughton

Is it not a fact that the work of the Central Register at Southport has been more than trebled since the Government created the muddle about National Health Service numbers?

I know it is the rule that when a Member is not here to ask an Oral Question he receives a Written reply, but could I ask the Minister whether there is any disparity in the allowances per bed as between London and Sheffield and—
