§ 17. Mr. E. Johnsonasked the Minister of Food at how many markets held on Saturdays calves are sold for slaughter; and for how long they are kept before being killed.
§ Major Lloyd GeorgeTen. The calves are slaughtered either on the same day or on the following day.
§ Mr. JohnsonCan the Minister say how it is possible to slaughter calves sold on a Saturday the same day or the following day, when so few slaughterhouses, if any, are open; and what arrangements are made for the feeding of the calves until such time as they are slaughtered? Is he satisfied that these arrangements are adequate?
§ Major Lloyd GeorgeIf the hon. Gentleman has any instances where they are not satisfactory, I shall be happy to look into them.
