HC Deb 16 February 1953 vol 511 cc871-2
29. Mr. A. Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what representations have been received from the United States Government proposing a repudiation of understandings of the past, such as the Yalta Agreement, to which both Governments are parties.

Mr. Eden

None, Sir.

Mr. Henderson

Has the attention of the Foreign Secretary been drawn to the statement by the President of the United States that he intends to ask the United States Congress to pass a resolution repudiating certain parts of international understandings of the past? Will the right hon. Gentleman at any rate make it quite clear that Her Majesty's Government do not agree with the unilateral repudiation of any international agreements which were entered into validly and voluntarily?

Mr. Eden

Yes, Sir. That is our position, and it has been made clear to be our position.
