HC Deb 03 February 1953 vol 510 c1656
47. Mr. Chapman

asked the Prime Minister what representations he has received from mayors of British towns for special legislation to enable their term of office to be extended until after the Coronation, in order that they may preside at celebrations which have been prepared under their supervision.

The Prime Minister

I have received only one representation from civic authorities, and I do not in these circumstances need to add to the answer which I gave on this subject on 28th May last.

Mr. Chapman

Does not the Prime Minister think it would be appropriate to acknowledge the work that these mayors are doing?
