HC Deb 03 February 1953 vol 510 c1627
1. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Works what action is contemplated to ensure the maximum possible attendance at the Battersea Festival Pleasure Gardens in Coronation Year.

The Minister of Works (Mr. David Eccles)

This is a matter for the Board of the Company in whom I have confidence. If the hon. Gentleman has suggestions to make I shall be glad to arrange for him to see the Managing Director.

Mr. Dodds

As the right hon. Gentleman has stated in this House that the transport facilities were totally inadequate and that people were unable to get to the Gardens, would he now tell us what steps he proposes to take to see that the transport arrangements this year are more satisfactory?

Mr. Eccles

I understand that the L.C.C. members of the Board are forming a sub-committee to look into this matter of transport, and again I say that I have every confidence that these gentlemen will do the best they can.
