asked the Minister of Fuel and Power if he will introduce legislation to enable him to revise and bring up to date the safety regulations which control the specifications for electricity poles.

Yes, Sir. I would hope to do this when the new draft regulations are ready.

Commander Maitland

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the present regulations are very much out of date? By his new legislation will he try to ensure that it is possible to use British poles for this service and thus reduce the price and increase the speed at which electricity may be disseminated?

Mr. Lloyd

Yes, Sir. These regulations should be brought up to date; but in the meantime I am meeting the needs of the situation in regard to particular cases.
