HC Deb 17 December 1953 vol 522 c571
45. Mr. E. Fletcher

asked the Prime Minister on what basis the amount of fissile material estimated to be available in 1954 will be divided between military purposes and civil purposes, respectively.

The Prime Minister (Sir Winston Churchill)

I am advised that it would not be in the public interest to answer the hon. Member's Question.

Mr. Fletcher

Will the right hon. Gentleman bear in mind the great concern that is felt, not only among scientists and workers in nuclear research but among the public generally, that in the interests of world peace the greatest possible amount of fissile material should be available for industrial and economic purposes?

The Prime Minister

Yes, I will certainly bear that in mind.
