asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the total amount of new issues authorised by the Capital Issues Committee for Investment Trusts; and how many requests by trusts have been refused.

Since the 29th July, 1953, the total amount authorised for Investment Trusts (including Unit Trusts) up to the 11th December has been £16,863,761. No request has been refused.

Can the right hon. Gentleman say how much of the amount authorised in new issues is a bonus issue of shares?
