§ 60. Mr. Grimondasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a new statement on personal incomes, costs and prices on the lines of Command Paper No. 7321 of 1948.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerI regret not, Sir.
§ Mr. GrimondIn view of the confusion about whether people are better or worse off than they were, and the number of wage claims outstanding, may I ask whether my right hon. Friend considers the publication of such a paper would be a very useful source of information so that the public can make up their minds?
§ Mr. ButlerI am aware that such papers have been published, but we have looked into this very carefully and we think that in our speeches we have given the best possible information we can. If the hon. Member requires any other information, perhaps he will send me a communication and tell me in what respect he is lacking and I will attempt to supplement his armory.
