HC Deb 29 April 1953 vol 514 c2138
37. Mr. F. Maclean

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the official pamphlet published by the British Commissioner-General in South-East Asia under the title, "Healing Thoughts," represents the policy of Her Majesty's Government.

Mr. Lyttelton

I understand that the pamphlet contains a review by the Commissioner General for South-East Asia of relations between the peoples of the West and those of Southern Asia. It is not a statement of Government policy.

Mr. Maclean

Can my right hon. Friend say what action he proposes to take in order to make this clear?

Mr. Lyttelton

I have not yet seen the pamphlet. As soon as I receive it, I will make inquiries and see what action is appropriate.

Mr. J. Griffiths

As the Press report of the pamphlet seems to indicate a wide expression of very good sense opinion, will the right hon. Gentleman see that copies are made available in the Library?

Mr. Lyttelton

I will certainly put copies in the Library.
