§ Mr. LytteltonBoth Europeans and Africans must possess annual licences as prescribed in the Arms and Ammunition Ordinance. The number of firearms licensed to Africans in 1952 was 46,940, a very large number of which are muzzle loaders whose main use is ceremonial, or bird scaring. The licence fee varies from 2s. 6d. to 5s. per weapon with a maximum of 10s. for any total number of arms.
