41. Mr. Erroll

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representative bodies he consulted before issuing Statutory Instrument No. 526 of 1953; and how far he obtained their complete agreement to the standard of construction and fitting specified in the schedule to this Order.

I will, with per mission, circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT a list of the trade representative bodies consulted. None of them made any com ment on the requirements contained in the schedule.

But did they give their positive agreement to the comments in the schedule?

I understand that they were given the opportunity to comment or to disagree. They did not, and, therefore, their agreement was assumed.

Following is the list:

• The British Electrical and Allied Manufacturers Association.
• The Electrical Wholesalers Federation Limited.
• The Oil Burning Apparatus Manufacturers Association.
• The National Federation of Ironmongers.
• The Society of British Gas Industries.
