asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the extent of the shortage of nurses in institutions for mental defectives.

Commander Galbraith

Some 30 additional nurses are required to staff the 141 unstaffed beds in Scottish mental deficiency institutions. Additional accommodation for mental defective patients is, however, needed, and various developments are in view for which considerable numbers of further nurses will in due course be required.
