§ 46. Mr. Wyattasked the Prime Minister whether he will now make a further statement concerning British participation in the A.N.Z.U.S. Defence Pact.
§ The Prime MinisterNo, Sir. This matter will however be among those which I hope to discuss with the Prime Minister of Australia and New Zealand when they are over here for the Coronation.
§ Mr. WyattAs the Prime Minister has now been in office for 18 months, and since he strongly rebuked the Labour Party on this matter and has taken a keen personal interest in it, can be explain why it has not proceeded any further, and whether there is any real desire on the part o f New Zealand and Australia for us to be included in this Defence Pact?
§ The Prime MinisterI indicated in my answer that these matters will be the subject of further discussion with the Prime Ministers of Australia, New Zealand and this country.
