HC Deb 16 April 1953 vol 514 c359
22. Brigadier Medlicott

asked the Minister of Agriculture what arrangements are being made to increase the afforestation programme of planting in England and Wales to compensate for losses by the January storms throughout the United Kingdom.

Sir T. Dugdale

As my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland informed the right hon. Member for East Stirling (Mr. Woodburn) on 14th April, it is not practicable to effect any increase in the afforestation programme to make good the losses due to the storm. It has, however, been made a condition of all licences for the clearing of the devastated areas that they shall be restocked.
