§ 26. Mr. Ian Harveyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether it is now possible to state how many people are enrolled in industrial civil defence.
§ The Joint Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department (Sir Hugh Lucas-Tooth)No, Sir. My right hon. and learned Friend endorses the view expressed by the Mabane Committee that this information should be available, but proposes to seek it after the issue of a second Industrial Bulletin now in preparation setting up the Industrial Civil Defence Service to which he referred in answer to my hon. Friend's Question on 18th December last.
§ Mr. HarveyIs my hon. Friend aware that his answer will give satisfaction to all those interested in Civil Defence who have felt that the absence of these figures gave a very false picture? Will he also note that there is great concern that the industrial Civil Defence and normal Civil Defence organisations appear to be drifting apart?
§ Sir H. Lucas-ToothYes, Sir.
