Resolved, That it is expedient to authorise the issue out of the Consolidated Fund—

  1. (a) of the sum of six hundred and fifteen million pounds (instead of the sum of three hundred and fifty-five million pounds) for the permanent annual charge for the National Debt for the current financial year; and
  2. (b) of any sums required for the purpose of making payments of, or on account of, post-war refunds of excess profits tax by reason of provisions contained in any Act of the present Session relating to finance;
and the borrowing of money under the National Loans Act, 1939, for the purpose of providing any such sums as are mentioned in paragraph (b) of this Resolution.—[Mr. Boyd Carpenter.]
