HC Deb 14 April 1953 vol 514 cc21-2
27. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for War to give details of the financial arrangements under which soldiers of the Argyll Regiment were used in the film production of "Rob Roy" by Mr. Walt Disney; and what other similar engagements have been undertaken.

Mr. Head

The financial arrangements were such as to prevent either cost falling upon public funds or undercutting of the civilian labour market. Similar engagements have often been undertaken in the past when the request was reasonable and could be readily met.

Mr. John MacLeod

On a point of order. Does this refer to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders? Which Argyll Regiment is referred to in the Question?

Mr. Speaker

That is not a point of order.

Mr. Hughes

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that Mr. Walt Disney is so satisfied with these financial arrangements that he is trying to make a new film of "The Big Bad Wolf" and have the Chancellor of the Exchequer in it?
