HC Deb 29 October 1952 vol 505 c1921
37. Mr. Baldock

asked the Minister of Food what increase in sugar deliveries are expected from the Commonwealth and Colonies during the next three years.

Dr. Hill

It is difficult to make accurate forecasts of increases by calendar years, but we expect half a million tons more sugar by 1955.

Mr. Baldock

Is my hon. Friend aware of the satisfaction that the public will obtain from this announcement of an increase in food produced in the Empire, and particularly that part of the public who wish to preserve their own homegrown fruit which is at present being wasted?

Dr. Hill

I am certain that the satisfaction will extend also to the Commonwealth and Colonies producing sugar.
