HC Deb 29 October 1952 vol 505 c1909
13. Mr. R. Bell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a further statement in regard to the activities of an organisation known as E.P.I.M. in respect of the purchase of Anglo-Iranian oil from Persia.

Mr. Eden

This situation is being kept under close observation. But I have for the present nothing to add to the reply given by the Prime Minister to my hon. Friend the Member for Lancaster (Mr. F. Maclean) on 23rd July.

Mr. Bell

May I take it from that reply that my right hon. Friend would agree that recognition by Her Majesty's Government or willingness to recognise the nationalisation of Persian oil will not affect our rights in any way in this respect?

Mr. Eden

I think our rights still remain as stated by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister in July. There has been no change.
