§ 3. Miss Burtonasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the charge payable to chemists for prescriptions varies according to the size of the doctor's handwriting; and if he will arrange for prescription forms to be larger, or for continuation sheets to be used.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodNo, Sir. I think there is normally ample room for a doctor to write whatever he considers necessary.
§ Miss BurtonIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that I have here a letter from an old-age pensioner in Coventry who suffers from paralysis and finds it difficult to write? He states in this letter that the doctor to whom he goes has, unfortunately, large handwriting and that it takes 1243 two pages to write out a prescription? Is the Minister aware that this man is charged 2s. instead of 1s. and that he cannot afford it? Will the Minister look into this matter again?
§ Mr. MacleodI am delighted to look into anything that the hon. Lady brings to my notice, but up to the present I have seen no evidence of this need and I believe that the present size of Form E.C. 10 is ample.
