HC Deb 20 November 1952 vol 507 c2039
38. Mr. Hurd

asked the Secretary for Overseas Trade, as representing the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, how much paper is saved by the ban on the display of printed contents bills by newspaper vendors.

Mr. Mackeson

There are no figures available which would enable a precise estimate to be made of the tonnage of paper saved in this way, but we have always been advised by the Newsprint Rationing Committee that it is substantial.
