HC Deb 11 November 1952 vol 507 cc748-9
27. Mr. Peart

asked the Minister of Labour how many of the 460 estimators found redundant from his Department have been found employment; and what steps he proposes to take to ensure that these skilled personnel are usefully employed.

Mr. Watkinson

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the estimators recently declared redundant by the Inland Revenue Department with effect from 12th October. They have been advised to register with the appropriate offices of my Ministry, and I understand that about 50 of them have already found alternative employment.

Mr. Peart

Will the hon. Gentleman carefully watch this matter, because here we have an important pool of skilled labour which should be used wisely?

Mr. Watkinson

I agree. We are doing our best to find employment for these people.
