HC Deb 10 November 1952 vol 507 c582
34. Mr. Ernest Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what reply he has received from Marshal Tito to the invitation of Her Majesty's Government to him to visit the United Kingdom.

The Joint Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Anthony Nutting)

I am glad to say that Marshal Tito has accepted the invitation.

Mr. Davies

Is the Minister aware that this news will be received with appreciation on both sides of the House?

Mr. Stokes

May I ask the Under-Secretary whether it will be made perfectly clear to Marshal Tito that his reception will be much more cordial if, before he comes, he shows a little more toleration to people of my religious denomination?

Mr. Nutting

I have no doubt that the remarks of the right hon. Gentleman will be noted in the appropriate quarters.

Mr. Davies

Can the hon. Gentleman say when Marshal Tito is likely to visit this country?

Mr. Nutting

No date has yet been fixed.
