§ 12. Sir E. Keelingasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many Europeans have been sent out to trade centres in Nigeria since their formation; and how many of them have resigned or not renewed their contracts.
§ Mr. HopkinsonSeventy-five, of whom five have resigned and 11 others have left for various reasons.
§ Sir E. KeelingDoes my right hon. Friend believe that the pay offered is good enough?
§ Mr. HopkinsonI do not think it can be said that there is any serious dissatisfaction with conditions of service, but instructors at trade training centres, like many other Government officers in Nigeria, do not always find it easy to make both ends meet. The Government of Nigeria are at present considering proposals for the revision of salaries.
