HC Deb 13 May 1952 vol 500 cc1098-9
23 and 24. Mr. Thomas Hubbard

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will now give the starting date for the building of Cameron Hospital in Fife;

(2) if he will authorise the erection of a temporary building to relieve the gross overcrowding in Kirkcaldy General Hospital, and to reduce the waiting list for beds.

Commander Galbraith

In view of the pressing need for additional hospital facilities in the Kirkcaldy area, I have asked the South-Eastern Regional Hospital Board to consider immediate short-term proposals for the expansion of existing hospitals. This would involve some modification of the scope of the proposed new general hospital at Cameron Bridge.

Mr. Hubbard

While I am quite sure everyone in the area will be satisfied that something is being done, can the hon. and gallant Gentleman give some indication how soon we can expect a decision?

Commander Galbraith

The matter is being studied at the moment.
