HC Deb 13 May 1952 vol 500 c1089
5. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will give a date for the completion of a community centre in the new mining town of Glenrothes.

Commander Galbraith

Preliminary consideration has been given by the New Town Development Corporation to plans for a community hall at Glenrothes and detailed plans and tenders have just been submitted for the approval of my right hon. Friend under the New Towns Act.

Mr. Hamilton

Does the Minister realise that the population of this new town is likely to increase rapidly in the next 12 months and that there is no community centre within a considerable distance? Will he, therefore, do what he can to expedite the provision of such a centre?

Commander Galbraith

Yes, Sir.
