HC Deb 08 May 1952 vol 500 cc530-1
12. Major W. J. Anstruther-Gray

asked the President of the Board of Trade the total value of lobsters which the French Government have agreed to allow British exporters to send to France during the next three months.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

I regret that this information is not yet available. As soon as the French authorities reply to our inquiries I will communicate with my hon. and gallant Friend.

Major Anstruther-Gray

Will my right hon. Friend bear in mind that France is exporting £25,000 worth of oysters and £60,000 worth of strawberries to the United Kingdom during this period, and will he use that as an argument in seeking fair play for British producers, particularly lobster fishermen?

Mr. Thorneycroft

I will certainly bear in mind the point which my hon. and gallant Friend has put forward.
