HC Deb 13 March 1952 vol 497 c1567
42. Major Tufton Beamish

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department on what date he received the Report of the Committee which advises him on the administration of the Wild Bird Protection Acts of 1890 and 1933; and what prospect there is of new legislation, in view of the fact that these Acts are badly in need of revision.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

The Committee's proposals for new legislation were submitted on 24th September, 1951. At present I can only say that there will not be time for legislation on this subject this Session.

Major Beamish

Will my right hon. and learned Friend bear in mind that there is a real need for amending legislation and that it would be very pleasant, at this time of so much political controversy, to discuss wild birds during a short breathing-space.
