Resolved, That it is expedient to authorise—

  1. (a) the issue out of the Consolidated Fund of the sum of five hundred and seventy-five million pounds for the permanent annual charge for the National Debt for the current financial year, instead of the sum of three hundred and fifty-five million pounds; and
  2. (b) the payment out of moneys provided by Parliament of any expenses of the Commissioners of Customs and Excise in paying for samples taken in connection with purchase tax.—[Mr. R. A. Butler.]
