HC Deb 12 March 1952 vol 497 cc1361-2
11. Mr. John Hynd

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the results of the arbitration in respect of compensation awarded to this country from Albania by the International Court of Justice have been pronounced; and what steps Her Majesty's Government are taking to recover such compensation.

Mr. Nutting

No, Sir. There have been no further developments since my reply to the hon. Gentleman on 14th November last year.

Mr. Hynd

Is the Minister consulting with his hon. Friends the Financial Secretary to the Treasury and the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Education, who passed so many strictures on the late Government for their delay in this matter and for their failure to take such drastic action as the seizing of Albanian ships in the Mediterranean?

Mr. Nutting

No, Sir, but we are taking legal advice.
