10. Mr. Charles Fletcher-Cooke

asked the Minister of Education whether she will appoint a representative of the National Association of Schoolmasters to the Teachers' Panel of the Burnham Committee.

As I have already stated, I see no reason to dissent from the view expressed by my predecessor on this matter in an answer which he gave in this House on 13th July, 1950.

Mr. Fletcher-Cooke

Would my right hon. Friend not agree that the numbers of the membership of this Association justify at least one seat on the Burnham Committee? If numbers are not the test, what is?

I have given my view as it is now. I have agreed to receive a deputation from this Association, and if they can put before me any other views that will make me change my mind I shall certainly do so.
