HC Deb 04 March 1952 vol 497 c190
8. Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when he intends introducing his promised amending legislation of the Rent Restriction Acts; and to give an assurance that it will deal with the anomalies associated with the tied house and cottage problem.

Mr. H. Macmillan

As far as I can remember, I have never promised to introduce legislation, but to review the problem. In the light of this review, a decision will be taken by the Government as to whether legislation is required and if so what it should be. It will cover the whole of the subject.

Mr. Lewis

Can the Minister give an assurance in respect of the last part of the Question? Will it or will it not deal with the tied cottage and house problem?

Mr. Macmillan

The review will deal with every aspect of the subject.
