asked the Minister of Education if she is aware of the suppression of the Students' Union of the South-East Essex Technical College by its Principal; and what steps she is considering taking in this matter of academic freedom.

I am informed that a writ has been issued on behalf of one of the students in connection with this matter. Tt would not, therefore, be proper for me to make any comment since the matter is sub judice.

Is the Minister aware that this suspension of a students' union is unique, at least to my knowledge, and that we in the teaching world view this with the utmost disquiet?
