HC Deb 19 June 1952 vol 502 cc1545-6
34. Mr. Remnant

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the disquiet which still exists in the neighbourhood of Broadmoor, he can give an assurance that all possible precautions are being taken to prevent escapes.

Mr. Iain Macleod

Yes, Sir. But I am unable to make any more detailed statement in anticipation of the Government's consideration of the Report of the Committee under the Chairmanship of Mr. Scott Henderson, which has just been received. In the meantime, it would be well to treat with complete reserve many of the statements to which publicity is being given, some of which are quite untrue and many of which are gross distortions of quite trivial incidents

Mr. Remnant

Will my right hon. Friend agree in hoping that the Press will see his statement and show the same moderation in this case as they did when an unfortunate incident occurred recently?
