HC Deb 30 July 1952 vol 504 c1480
44. Miss Ward

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General the total expenditure agreed in respect of television transmitters since the Pontop Pike Television Station was postponed.

Mr. Gammans

Expenditure on television transmitters is a matter for the B.B.C., within their allotted capital investment.

Miss Ward

is my hon. Friend aware that that answer will cause the greatest suspicion on the North-East Coast and will make us believe that we are not getting a fair deal? Am Ito understand that there has been more capital expenditure on transmitters than would have given us our Pontop Pike station on the North-East Coast? [Interruption.]
