asked the Minister of Food the number of enforcement stall and inspectorate employed by his Department in the northern region of England at the present time; and the number so employed in 1947 and 1950.

As the reply contains a number of figures, I will, with permission, circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Mr. Speir

Is my hon. Friend satisfied that these enforcement officers are fully employed; and will he perhaps consult the hon. Member for Kidderminster (Mr. Nabarro) to see whether some "pruning" could not be encouraged in this direction, too?

Dr. Hill

The establishment of enforcement officers is continually scrutinized, and I will consult my hon. Friend on anything.
