§ 25. Mr. Patrick Maitlandasked the Secretary to the Treasury how many copies of the booklet of 64 pages entitled "Education in Britain," classified H 1c, have been published by the Central Office of Information; and what has been the total cost, including authorship.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterThat is another question.
§ Following are the details:
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterThree thousand five hundred copies were printed at a total cost, including authorship and other staff time, of £29 13s. 3d. This publication was part of a programmed authorised by the late Government.
§ Mr. MaitlandWhile thanking my hon. Friend for his answer, may I ask him 2313 whether he is aware that the material contained in the pamphlet "Education in Britain" is also to be found in the "Weekly Survey of Home Affairs," so that it is superfluous?
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterThe publication in question was prepared at the time at the request of two of the overseas Departments which took the view that it would be of assistance to the work of their information sections overseas.
