§ 41. Sir I. Fraserasked the Minister of Agriculture if he will make a statement on the present stock position of animal feedingstuffs, and the prospects for this year's harvest; and when he anticipates that it will be possible to dispense with the present rationing restrictions.
§ 40. Mr. Spenceasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he will now consider permitting the farm-to-farm sale of oats in view of the heavy stocks still held.
§ Sir T. DugdaleStocks are reasonably satisfactory for the time of year, and the harvest promises well; but there are a number of unknown factors affecting the supply of feedingstuffs from overseas sources in the next 12 months. I am unable to say when it will be possible to dispense with rationing, though I am anxious to do so as soon as practicable. Meanwhile simply to allow farm-to-farm sales of oats would I am afraid be premature.
§ Sir I. FraserWill my right hon. Friend assure the House that he would like to get rationing ended?
§ Sir T. DugdaleYes, Sir, most certainly and definitely.
