HC Deb 14 July 1952 vol 503 cc1803-4
48. Mr. Parker

asked the Minister of Labour the present position in regard to the strike at Messrs Briggs' Works; and what steps are being taken to terminate it.

The Minister of Labour (Sir Walter Monckton)

The strike continues but a number of men have returned to work. At Croydon approximately half the workers returned this morning. The strike is unofficial and the unions concerned are continuing their efforts to secure a resumption of normal working. I understand that officials of the unions are meeting representatives of the firm today.
