Certain premises in Old Palace Yard, where a number of processes are undertaken connected with the upkeep of the buildings, including carpentry and repairs to furniture and plant, are subject to the provisions of the Factories Acts and are visited by an inspector. Building operations undertaken by contractors within the precincts of the Palace of Westminster are also visited by inspectors to verify compliance with the Building (Safety, Health and Welfare) Regulations.
