HC Deb 07 July 1952 vol 503 c876
7. Mr. Vaughan-Morgan

asked the Minister of National Insurance whether he has yet received the Report of the National Insurance Advisory Committee on the amounts payable to hospital inpatients; and what action he is taking upon it.

Mr. Peake

Yes, Sir. I received the Committee's Report on 27th June and copies will be available at the Vote Office after Questions. Provisional regulations are being laid today to give the earliest effect to their recommendations. As a result the benefit of hospital inpatients will go up, when the recent Act takes effect, broadly in the same proportion as other people's benefit. Those who have been a year in hospital will receive an increase of 1s. 6d.

Mr. Vaughan-Morgan

Is my right hon. Friend aware that this decision will be very widely welcomed?
