HC Deb 07 July 1952 vol 503 c894
44. Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Supply if he will give an assurance that the Electric Lamp Manufacturers' Association have now implemented the recommendations of the Monopolies Commission Report, in accordance with the agreement made between him and the association.

The Minister of Supply (Mr. Duncan Sandys)

I am assured that the Electric Lamp Manufacturers' Association have made the necessary changes in their rules and methods.

Mr. Lewis

May I take it that all the changes which they have made are in accordance with the promise they made to the Minister arising from the Question which I put down a month ago?

Mr. Sandys

Yes, Sir.

Lieut.-Colonel Lipton

Does this mean that the public are now to get cheaper and better lamps, because that is the prime test of whether the whole thing has been worth while or not?

Mr. Sandys

That is quite a different question.
