HC Deb 31 January 1952 vol 495 c357
44. Mr. I. Mikardo

asked the Minister of Health what weight in the grading or re-grading of medical personnel carried out by the regional hospital boards, is attached to whether the persons concerned have their degrees from British or non-British universities.

Miss Hornsby-Smith

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the recent arrangements for reviewing the original gradings of certain classes of hospital medical staff. In this review, only experience gained since the original grading is relevant.

Mr. Mikardo

Will the hon. Lady be good enough to look into a case I should like to send her in which a highly qualified gentleman appears to have been disadvantaged because he was qualified at the wrong university?

Miss Hornsby-Smith

If the hon. Member will send me the details I shall be delighted to look into the case.
