HC Deb 21 February 1952 vol 496 c402
7. Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that children in Cardiff needing operative treatment for their eyes have to wait as long as three years before being admitted to hospital; and what steps he is taking to deal with this problem.

Mr. Crookshank

Yes, Sir. I am informed that the Welsh Regional Hospital Board and the Board of Governors of the United Cardiff Hospitals are considering measures to increase the facilities available.

Mr. Thomas

Can the Minister say whether it will be possible to allocate more beds for this type of case in the near rather than in the distant future?

Mr. Crookshank

I do not know which future is involved, but plans are being considered for increasing the number of beds.

Mr. Thomas

It is very urgent.
