§ 12. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Assistant Postmaster-General if, in considering new stamps for the new Reign, he will take into account the benefit to the trade and industry of Scotland and the profit to his own Department which would enure from an issue of special and individual designs in stamps for Scotland; and if he will therefore make such an issue accordingly.
§ Mr. GammansNo decision has yet been reached about new stamps; but as regards the possibility of a special issue for Scotland, I would refer the hon. and learned Member to the reply I gave him on 21st November last.
§ Mr. HughesDoes the Assistant Postmaster-General not realise that the granting at the present time of such new stamps to Scotland would be a gracious gesture to Scottish sentiment, especially in view of the anomalous position in regard to the Royal styles and titles in Scotland, and that he could do that with profit to the Post Office and with advantage to the Commonwealth?
§ Mr. GammansI explained to the hon. and learned Member last November the difficulty of issuing a special stamp for Scotland or any other part of the United Kingdom.
