HC Deb 19 February 1952 vol 496 c10
11. Mr. Anthony Hurd

asked the Secretary of State for War if, in view of the Government's decision to secure the utmost possible production of grain for this year's harvest, he will give general instructions that all land held by the War Office which can be spared for cropping shall be offered to local farmers.

Mr. Head

I well know the importance of this matter, and my existing instructions require the fullest possible use of War Department land in this way.

Mr. Hurd

How many acres of War Office land does my right hon. Friend expect will be released for cropping in this year's harvest?

Mr. Head

I could not answer that question without notice.
