HC Deb 05 February 1952 vol 495 c786
25. Mr. John Timmons

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in view of the resentment in Lanarkshire with regard to the diversion of raw materials allocated to a certain firm at the Newhouse industrial estate, he will take steps to inquire into the matter and ensure that raw materials for Lanarkshire are used in Lanarkshire.

Mr. Snadden

If the hon. Member will be kind enough to give me details of the case he has in mind, I shall be glad to look into it.

Mr. Timmons

Is the Joint Under-Secretary not aware that there have been quite a lot of irregularities going on in many of these estates for a period of years, which I have already raised with various officials; and that, subsequent to putting down this Question, I found out at the week-end that there are other firms sending raw materials to works in the Midlands, and that I will give the names and the information required to the hon. Gentleman?
